Telangana registered 1302 new coronavirus cases taking it to 1,72,608 count of total cases. The death tally stands at 1,041. Andhra Pradesh registered 7,738 new cases on Sunday with gross death toll at 5,359. Both Telugu states continue to add new cases at an alarming rate in the last few weeks.

The Central Government issued a clarification that there are no plans for a nation-wide lockdown in the future.

For the first time in its history, the Lord Venkateshwara Temple at Tirumala began Brahmotsavam on Saturday without a procession through the streets. On the ancient hill, the Garuda Flag was hoisted atop the golden mast signalling the beginning of the festival. The temple officials said in a statement that strict covid-19 precautions are being taken at the temple by those in attendance and with the vehicle procession cancelled due to corona concerns, the massive scores of devotees that used to congregate for the procession were absent.
